What Is Therapy?
It can be an opportunity to loosen the knots that tie us into knots due to our confusing behaviors, our mixed emotions, and our unsettling thoughts. This can happen to us all in one degree or another. Often this experience can drive us ‘crazy’ and occur at a time when we are going through a signifcant period or transition in our lives.
It could be due to a relationship stress; the death of a love one; family illness; job problems; financial difficulties; moving a household or many other difficulties. These issues seem to trigger us to do some serious reflecting, in order to find a solution and set a better course for ourselves. Often by talking to another person who has more objectivity rather than a neighbor, a friend, or a family member.
Counseling can help a person untie the knots and be free of the weight of an issue or issues that seemed to have trapped us. Therapy can lead us into our deeper self and tap into our inner wisdom and find some strengths. Through this process we will often muster up the courage to make some changes, changes that will lead to a more fulfilling life.
We all have the desire to be with people who help us to come alive. Even in difficult times, they take the edge off of our pain. That is what can happen in therapy.
In marital therapy couples can give voice to some painful experiences and generate a deeper sense of compassion for one another which then can help them feel more attached and more secure.
Couples therapy is an experiential process that can bring about a deeper bonding; more understanding; a clearer vision for the relationship; and a deeper commitment to one another. This can help a couple find a deeper and stronger rudder for their marriage
I like working with people to help them sort out their thoughts, feelings and desires for a better life and I also help people, not only survive, but also to problem solve and thrive in their life. This does not come without the element of work to achieve a better life; a brighter vision, and a more significant meaning. I am also a relational therapist and I assist individuals in having more satisfying relationships in their lives.
